20,000 Lgues Under the S is a 1954 American adventure starring Kirk Douglas as Ned Land, James Mason as Captain Nemo, Paul Lukas as Professor Pierre Aronnax, and Peter Lorre as Conseil. It was the first science fiction produced by Walt Disney Productions, as well as the only science fiction personally produced by Walt Disney.[2] It was also the first fture length Disney to be distributed by Buena Vista Distribution. The has become the best-known adaptation of the book of the same name by Jules Verne, and cited as an rly example of the re now called stmpunk.[3] This is also Disney's fifth live-action overall.
